Charleston: Arthur Ravenel Jr. Bridge
Charleston is known as the Holy City, a nickname that comes from the church steeples rising over its low skyline. The classic way in from Mount Pleasant is over the Arthur Ravenel Jr. Bridge, which opened on July 16, 2005. Its cable-stayed main span stretches 1,546 feet across the Cooper River, and from the top you roll straight down into the historic downtown.
